The Royal Bank of Scotland has announced the ten-year anniversary of its online banking service will take place in June.
Since the online banking option was launched in 1997, the financial services firm states that the main reasons its customers use the service are to pay their bills and view their statements.
According to the bank, the average value of transactions from its customers has increased from £6 billion to £50 billion, while the number of transactions made has risen from 8.4 million to about 60 million per year.
Garry Stern, RBS group head of online banking, said: "Online banking has completely changed the face of personal and business banking. People's ability to manage their money is faster and easier."
He added that online banking had resulted in increased flexibility, control and convenience for customers, who would be able to "travel the world and still keep up to date with their money".
Meanwhile, Nationwide Building Society has also announced that it too is due to celebrate the tenth anniversary of its online banking option.
