NatWest has officially launched the first UK account to have all major services translated into Polish, including provision for Polish online banking customers in their own language.
The NatWest Welcome account, which has a monthly charge of £2, is targeted at the 300,000 Polish workers that the bank estimates are currently operating within the UK.
As part of the setup, the financial services provider offers almost all application and account documentation in Polish as well as access to a specifically-designed Polish telephony unit - although statements and pre-advice slips will only be available in English.
Helen Page, marketing director at NatWest, explained that the bank was aiming to provide a necessary service to Polish speakers that "none of the other banks offer".
"The typical Polish speaker in the UK is a young, skilled professional who is here to work hard and save money," she explained.
"NatWest is trying to make life a bit more straightforward by ensuring that banking doesn't pose an additional worry."
Poland entered the European Union in May 2004, along with nine other countries, primarily from eastern Europe.
This January, Bulgaria and Romania became the latest countries to officially join the European community, which many commentators predicted could lead to an influx of immigrants that would require high street and virtual banking services.
