Lloyds TSB has been nominated for a National Customer Service Award for its innovative internet banking device.

The bank's internet banking safety device, the Access Code Device, has been nominated in the e-Commerce Customer Service Award and the SOCAP award for Customer Service.

A ceremony will be held on Tuesday September 19th, at The Grosvenor House Hotel in Park Lane, London.

The Access Code Device, a key-ring sized piece of equipment, is designed to provide additional security for internet banking customers.

Generating a unique six-digit code number, the device is used in conjunction with the user's own security details when they log on to their internet banking account.

During a trial of the technology involving 23,000 internet banking customers, Lloyds TSB claims that the device was 100 per cent successful in combating fraud.

Anita Hockin, head of internet at Lloyds TSB, said: "Lloyds TSB was the first bank to give this device to internet banking customers and is at the forefront of the fight against online fraud, so it is fantastic to have been recognised for our achievements."

Lloyds TSB's internet banking service allows users to apply for personal loans and make credit card payments.
