HSBC has announced that its business internet banking service has now been available for five years.
The internet banking service, which was launched in December 2001, was "groundbreaking" when created, improving productivity and reducing waiting time for businesses, the bank claims.
Additionally, HSBC notes that a range of innovative and user-friendly services are available via the internet banking portal, while a number of recent additions have also been made.
The internet banking service has also scooped a number of awards, including the Best Internet Banking Service prize at the 2003 Institute of Financial Services' Innovation Awards, HSBC asserts.
Alan Keir, head of commercial banking, Europe, said: "Internet banking forms a cornerstone of HSBC's efforts to respond to the changing needs of 21st century businesses, which no longer require traditional branches for all their banking needs."
He added that 51 per cent of the UK's 1.7 million small and medium-sized businesses are expected to use internet banking by 2010.
Elsewhere in the world, more than £1 trillion was transferred via internet banking in South Korea over the third quarter of 2007, reports Yonhap News.
