Islamic banking customers will have more banking options from today, as Lloyds TSB is expanding its Islamic banking operations.
Current accounts and home finance designed specifically for the Islamic banking market are now available from 32 Lloyds TSB branches across the country, as nine more branches open their doors today.
Two Islamic banking branches will open in each of London and Leicester, with more opening in Manchester, Oldham, Cheetham, Peterborough and Bolton.
"With more than 30 branches now offering Islamic financial services throughout the UK, there is a real choice on the high street for Muslims who want an alternative to conventional current accounts and mortgages," says Paul Sherrin, the head of Lloyds TSB Islamic financial services.
Mr Sherrin says Lloyds TSB is "proud to be able to give these customers something we know that they will value".
He says that these financial services and products do not only meet the needs of Britain's more than two million Muslims, but they are also "truly competitive".
All of the bank's Islamic banking products and financial services comply with Shariah, the Islamic law which forbids both the payment and receipt of interest, known as Riba.
