Barclays is one of the largest banks in the UK , offering customers a full range of financial services including loans, credit cards, mortgages, insurance and pensions.
More than ten million people throughout Britain hold current accounts with Barclays, served by 74,000 members of staff that work for the bank. In addition, around 750,000 businesses also assign their banking to Barclays. There are roughly 2000 UK branches, each of which offer customers a raft of current and "premium service" accounts along with other services. Barclays Bank also owns the Woolwich.
Barclays Internet Banking
Barclays internet banking is available to most customers, free of charge. The only charges involved are the normal internet service provider charges and the cost of calls whilst online.
Online users are able to check the balance on their accounts and view statements, pay bills, and transfer money between accounts. Users are also able to apply for a loan, overdraft or savings bond.
Other bonuses include the facility to set up or change standing orders, which cuts out the need to fill in paper forms, and the ability for users to download account information into their own software package, such as Excel or Sage.
Finally, online banking with Barclays is linked to Barclays sister company, the Woolwich, meaning Barclays customers with a Woolwich mortgage are also able to keep track of their Woolwich accounts online.
