Metro bank has announced it will be utilising the Trusteer Rapport secure web access service to ensure hackers cannot access online banking sessions via browsers.
The newest bank on the UK high street joins HSBC and Santander in offering its customers free security software which protects them when they are carrying out online transactions.
The bank said when a Trusteer user browses sensitive web sites such as internet banking, the service locks down the browser immediately creating a secure tunnel between the user and the website to ensure that malware cannot intercept.
Craig Donaldson, chief executive officer of Metro Bank, explained: "We take the security of our customers very seriously and that means we have the best security components available. By adding Trusteer to our armoury and offering it as a complimentary service to our customers, we can ensure that our customers' money is completely safe and secure."
