Santander are to offer all its online retail banking customers the Rapport complimentary web browser security service developed by Trusteer. The service prevents online fraud by protecting Internet banking communications against financial malware and phishing attacks.
With the amount of attacks by financial cybercriminals increasing in both volume and sophistication, it is becoming even more important for banks to protect their customers' online banking privacy and security. The software can be downloaded from the Santander website and used to make online banking sessions more secure.
Mick Paisley, Head of Information Security and Business Resilience for Santander, said "The rollout of Trusteer's secure browsing service to the UK retail banking customers of Santander is one of the largest free offers of online banking security by a UK bank."
He added "Taking precautions can have a disproportional protective effect, customers don't have to do much to significantly increase their levels of protection, and Trusteer is one of those things which provide a significant benefit with minimal effort."
The Rapport software is already being successfully used by banks such as the Alliance and Leicester, while the Trusteer network now includes over 70 banks and more than 12 million customers.
Mickey Boodaei, CEO of Trusteer. Said "[online banking threats] are highly targeted and highly sophisticated and fly under the radar of traditional desktop security solutions. Trusteer is entirely focused on working with the banks to identify and eliminate these threats through an array of services."
