Banking online stops queuing rage

Mon, 08 Nov 2010

In the UK, the average adult can wait up to ten minutes and 42 seconds in a queue before they start getting irritable, according to new research.

The Payments Council has revealed that around 83 per cent of people go online in order to cut out queuing altogether. Some of the most performed transactions online include banking (58 per cent), paying bills (54 per cent), buying travel (45 per cent) and tickets (39 per cent).

Further, just over a third (35 per cent) of people would rather go online to buy items that take longer than average to buy in-store, including technology and books .

Sandra Quinn, spokesperson for the Payments Council, said: "Our research shows that more of us are waking up to the fact that you can skip the queue altogether, saving time and money, by using 'queue dodging tactics' like internet shopping, online banking and paying bills electronically. It can definitely be worth thinking about making the most of these if you haven't done so already."
