New student banking account launched

Wed, 08 Aug 2007

Yorkshire Bank has launched a new student banking account that aims to take the hassle out of finance for undergraduates.

Head of retail at Yorkshire Bank Gary Lumby comments that many scholars are missing out on student-specific accounts when they begin their university life.

"Our package gives them all the tools they need including 24-hour internet and telephone banking and access to first hand practical support and specialist advice," he remarks.

According to Mr Lumby, entertainment is one of the greatest expenditures for students accounting for 20.4 per cent of a student's total outgoings. Recognising this, Yorkshire Bank is offering every student who opens an account with them a two for one cinema card, he adds.

Travel discounts and Ticketmaster vouchers will also be available for a lucky few students throughout the year, in a bid by the bank to help students enjoy university instead of "spending time worrying about their finances".

Yorkshire Bank is part of the National Australia Bank Group and claims to have a modern approach to financial services after 140 years of experience in banking.
