The Bank of Ireland in increasing the financial services offered to its personal banking customers by installing 1,000 cash machines across the UK.

The cash machines would be installed in branches of the Post Office after the two companies signed a joint cooperation agreement.

By expanding its offering of financial services, the bank hopes to add an additional 300,000 personal banking customers to its client base.

Through the post office network, the bank has already acquired 100,000 new personal banking customers, and plans to reach its new target of 400,000 by early next year.

The Bank of Ireland is already selling its financial services through the branch network established through a joint venture with the Post Office.

Ireland's second biggest bank has been offering financial services like home insurance and personal loans through the Post Office branches since January 2004. The Post Office currently has some 14,600 branches in the UK.

Customers of all banks and building societies could benefit from the Bank of Ireland's extended network of cash machines, due to start being implemented in the autumn.
